ing is a challenge but it is a lot of fun. I realize that it's something that I have to practice at and I plan to. Here's a little something that I actually spun, ugly isn't it?However I plan on getting better at it. I brought a wheel home with me. I tried two wheels at the class, an Ashford Traditional and a Louet. I liked spinning on the Louet better and decided to go with the S17 model. It's unfinished so eventually I'll get around to staining it. It's also compact and easy to store.
I also came home with bag of roving and a Niddy Noddy. So, I'm on cloud 9. The class was great and a wonderful introduction to spinning. I now know what it means to draft, spin, ply, set the twist, etc. I'm gonna have a blast with my new hobby.

Glad you had fun at the spinning class... that looks like a cool gadget...enjoy.
I hopefully am going to get a Babe wheel-yes, it's PVC, etc, but comes with everything and only weighs about 7.5 lbs. The one I want is double treadle also and will cost, with delivery about $170.
It ain't pretty, but it will suffice!

That is a truly respectable first attempt :) Kudos to you! Oh, and I'm completely jealous of your wheel. Can I prod you for more details about what sold you on the Louet over the Ashford? I'm trying to decide myself!
I can't wait to see your progress on your stole -- my MIL has "suggested" that that pattern would make an excellent holiday gift for her!!!
Celeste, The size was the deciding factor. The shape of the wheel and it's upright position makes it very easy to store.
