A few things

Oh life has been busy. Since the 1st of this month I've been on a family reunion cruise from Miami to Key West FL and Calica, Mexico, then straight to a conference for work in Newport, RI, home for 3 days, then to NY for work for a few days. So I only managed to complete a few small projects: dog mat, a few small scarves, another cable purse and in between working on a blanket for my grandson. Today I'm trying to finish some online courses that need to be done by Dec 31 but had to take a break to do some blogging and get some Xmas orders off for the Crochetville Wish List Exchange. Due to time restraints all exchanges I did were completed online.

Crocheted Hand Bag

I got the idea from Donna over at Crochetville. I pulled out my crochet encyclopedia and stitch bible to find a quick ribbed type stitch. I decided on the parallel post which is made up of hdc's and fphdc's. So I grabbed a worsted weight yarn and began. The bag took around 2 hours to make. I crocheted a rectangle, attached the handles, turned the bag inside out and sc'd up the sides. Another Xmas gift done.

Shrug

This shrug was done with a mohair, silk & wool blend that I picked up from a marvelous yarn store that I discovered not far from where I live - Woolbearers. They carry some lovely yarns and I know that I'll be a frequent visitor there.

I crocheted this without a pattern. Shrug was simply done using double crochet throughout.

Martha Poncho Day

Today my cousin Rhonda and I attended Martha’s Poncho Day show in New York City.

Everyone in the audience had a poncho on, even her dogs. The show was very interesting.

Guests were Lily Chin, a very fast crocheter, comedian David Spade who was a hoot and Sesame Street’s Elmo who also wore a poncho. Everyone in attendance received a poncho, a cookie of Martha wearing a poncho and an Elmo DVD.

After the show Rhonda and I headed down to the Village for lunch at BBQ. After lunch we made a visit to Smiley's Yarn store in Woodhaven where we both added to our stash. We ended the day watching the show when it was retelevised later that evening.

Poncho for Martha Day

I made this poncho this weekend to wear to Martha Stewart Poncho Day tomorrow in NYC. The instructions say to wear something colorful. Well the only other Martha type ponchos that I have and didn't give away are a solid black one and a cream colored one. Since I had a few skeins of Lion Brand Homespun in the stash I did another one up just for the show.

Adina Bolero

This bolero was crocheted with a sport weight mill end yarn. The pattern belongs to Donna aka Nina Kate who sells this pattern on Ebay - http://www.ninakate.blogspot.com:

Boleros and Shrugs

I finally got the boleros and shrugs up. These were done on my own without a pattern:

Stash

A small portion of my good old stash:

First Day, First Post

Okay I finally started this blog. Let's see how I keep up with it.

Today is Friday and my day off from work. I got the nails and other errands done first off.

Then I played good samaritan by taking my friend Joanne grocery shopping. I hate grocery shopping with a passion. I especially hate hauling the stuff in and putting it away. Hell I don't do it at home as my kids have to earn their keep somehow, sigh! But Jo can't do it and she only has Gail and I. At least I got a good workout in, LOL!!

Anyway once I got home I cooked myself a nice steak dinner. I hate cooking too and don't do it much anymore.

Then I got on the computer for a bit. Now my puters I love. I finally created this blog. I've been wanting to but figured I'd spend too much time messing with it instead of crocheting - another thing I love to do ;-)

I'm going to try and finish the shrug I started this morning. BTW I picked up some yarn today. Like I really needed anymore in the stash. But The Rag Shop got a new batch of mill ends. And I had a coupon. So I got a pound bag of a nice blue acrylic for only $1.97. I also picked up a skein of Sensation Rainbow Boucle at Jo~Ann's using another coupon, yes!! Go coupons, they are a hooker's best friend :-)
