NJ Shop Hop Day 1

The NJ Shop Hop has begun. This years hop is 10 days instead of 5. Because of my busy schedule I'm not hopping with my buddies the Jersey Girl Quilters. It actually started April 13, 2012. However I was out of town so I didn't start until day, April 15. I went to Chicago for the weekend so I didn't start until I returned today. I went to Swedesboro directly from the airport.

First Stop - Needles & Pins, Swedesboro, NJ

Second Stop - The Village Quilter, Mt. Holly, NJ

The Forgotten Mondo Bag

I just realized I never posted this Mondo bag here. I had posted it on the Jersey Girl Quilters blog because I made it during one of our sewing days. This was mondo # 4 and it was a gift to a very special person who will get the matching Bermuda Bag for Mother's Day. I made this with a jelly roll of batiks.

Bags, Bags, Bags

It is not the first time I had this title for projects. Besides the bag for the owl swap I made a few others this month.

These two bags were made from the Bermuda Bag pattern by Pink Sands Beach Designs. If you remember I made Mondo bags out of these fabrics. I used the remaining strips from the perspective jelly rolls. Both will be gifts to the recipients of the Mondos.

Next up is the Candice Bag Pattern by Lazy Girl Designs. This bag went together quickly just like the other bags by this designer.

And lastly my 5th Mondo Bag. This one I'm keeping for me. I already used it. I had to take a trip to Phoenix, AZ and this was my carry on bag. Fits perfectly under the seat on the plane.

Owl Swap

I participated in an owl swap hosted by Jill. For the swap you had to craft at least two owl items.

Here is the package I received from Val. See how crafty she is?? Thank you Val for these wonderful owlies!!!

This is the package I sent to my partner. I made the handbag, pouch and the key chain, which is embroidered lace. I hope she likes her owls.

Owl Swap

Okay I wasn't going to participate in any swaps for awhile because the last swap of last year really left a bad taste. But Jill told me she was hosting an owl swap. Owls!! You know I couldn't resist. So I'm working on my swap projects now.

Baby Quilt

Linda, a friend and co-worker is a grandma. She had so been looking forward to the birth of her first grandchild. Her grandson was born on January 17 and shares a birthday with my grandson Naseem who just turned five years old. I made a quick quilt for Linda to take to little Cole.

Bags Bags Bags

I made some more bags this month. First up is my Giants tote. They did so well in the playoffs that I made myself a bag in celebration. I even found some football buttons for it.

Next up are some bags that I made from faux leather and suede. For the first two bags I used Pink Sands Beach Designs Bermuda Bag pattern. For the last was their Kona Carryall pattern.

Old Projects

Howdy! Happy New Year to all! These projects should have been posted last year. These are two projects that have been going on way too long.

The first is a quilt I started for my oldest son quite a few years ago. You can't find MLB fabric so I bought a bunch of lounge pants and cut them up. I used my Accuquilt cutter and 6 1/2" die to cut the blocks and made snowballs with baseball fabric. It should have been finished last August in time for his birthday but he got it for Christmas instead. It is nice and toasty, I used fleece on the back (you can find MLB in fleece) and batting too.

Next up is block of the month project from the now closed Past Times Quilt Shop. I had the quilt top together and put it aside. When my mom was visiting early in December she saw it (and a few others) on a pile in my sewing room. She commented "you need to finish these quilts." So I made a point to get this one done to give to her for Christmas. She was happy! BTW my pals the Jersey Girl Quilters all did this project. Go take a look at how they all turned out by clicking here.
