Bee Sweet Bag

I finished my bag for the May project for the Big City Bag Sew Along over at Sewing with Squeak.  This months project is the Bee Sweet Bag. I used the left over fabric from the previous months project instead of  the coordinating fabric that I had planned to use. I don't like these handles and wished I had left them off. This was a really simple pattern and I had no problems at all making this bag.

Seaside Runner

I'm still using scraps leftover from the Toes in the Sand block of the month project. This project is the Seaside Runner another pattern by Jaybird Quilts.  This runner was a snap to cut and piece. It went together easily as all the Jaybird patterns do.

Candy Dish Pillows

I made a few more Candy Dish pillows. A really fun pattern from Jaybird Quilts. They pillow goes together really fast.

I made Jaybird Quilts Toes in the Sand quilt from this fabric, Tula Pink Salt Water which was a block of the month at The Village Quilter. I finished the quilt top at my last Quiltaway. Now I just need to find time to quilt it.

Wonderland Bag

The April project for the Big City Bags Sew Along (Big City Bags is a book by Sara Lawson at Sew Sweetness) over at Sewing With Squeak was the Wonderland Bag.  I think this pattern was a lot easier than last month's clutch. I substituted some of the materials. I used Annies Soft and Stable instead of the recommended Thermolam Plus Fusible Fleece and I used Pellon Peltex 70 instead of the Pellon 520 Deco-Fuse.  In addition, I used 23" handles and not the 28" handles called for in the book.

The only thing I don't like about this bag is the opening. I feel it is too small.

I have some coordinating fabric that I will use for next month's project so there will be a set.

Meringue Clutch

Last month I came across a sew along over at Sewing with Squeak. The sew along runs for a year and each month a bag from Big City Bags is the featured project. The SAL started in January however I didn't find about it until February so I didn't make the first featured bag yet.

The project for March is the Meringue Clutch.

I was gifted with a copy of Sara Lawson's (Sew Sweetness) Big City Bags book for my birthday. The first bag I made was the Go Go bag.

Camp Loopy 2013: Project Two

Project two for Camp Loopy 2013 is done. Requirement was to knit a pattern that has been popular with other knitters, that you haven’t knit before. The project needs to have at least 1000 projects listed (or 1000 queued up) on Ravelry, and it needs to use at least 500 yards, single stranded.

Pattern:  Derecho
Designer: Laura Aylor
Needle: US Size 5

It was a nice relaxing knit. Just what I needed after the craziness of last month's traveling.
Great pattern. It was very well written.

Southern California Quilter's Run

I'm in San Diego for a few weeks for work. Imagine my surprise when I discover there's a shop hop scheduled the same time. So my weekend was spent shop hopping or quilter's running as they call it.

I hopped the Area 4 Shops. I visited 4 on Saturday and 5 on Sunday.

Day 1

Day 2

Passport turned in at last shop. It would be nice to win one of the prizes.

Here is my loot. I already mailed it back home. We'll see if it arrives before I do.

Camp Loop 2013: Project One

Camp Loopy has begun for this year. The requirement for Project one was to knit or crochet a project of at least 375 yards with a lace or fingering weight yarn that you had not used before.

I loved the pattern but wasn't all that crazy about the yarn. I found it a bit splitty to knit with and it pilled a bit. However I liked the finished project.

Yarn: Breathless by Shalimar Yarns

I met my knitting pal Loren in Philly and we went together on the bus. I again went on a bus trip sponsored by Rosie's Yarn Cellar.  It was a fantastic day.

I knitted a third and final Color Affection. I gave away the previous two and wanted one for myself.  I made it with yarn I purchased in January at Vogue Knitting Live in NYC.  Nice yarn!

Birdie Fling Bag

I took a bag class at The Village Quilter with a few of my quilting buddies. I could have easily made the bag myself but it is fun to sew with others. And of course, support the local quilt store/small businesses.

Pattern:  Birdie Fling by Amy Butler

I like this bag. It is nice and roomie.  I haven't decided  if I'm going to keep it or give it away.
